The Virginia Congress has banned same sex marriages as unconstitutional. Personally I believe that same sex unions should be permitted in Virginia, however, I also believe that the only marriage that is valid in the eyes of God is one with two individuals of different genders. I do believe that the boycotts and efforts of gay individuals are getting stronger and one day the marriage of these individuals will be legalized.

I believe that Bush's new immigrant policy is unobtainable. He wants to allow immigrants to work in America, doing jobs that most Americans won't, for a fixed amount of time. That's crazy. That's just like saying, "Here's your new home, but you can only live in it for a few months." I believe that that is unfair and a tease to Hispanics who earn an honest (minimum wage) living in America. Immigrants will not be able to recieve American citizenship and will basically be "recycled" with the fixed amount of allowed time in America. New immigrants will come in to fill the spaces of the old immigrants whose time has run out. That's awlful!

The treatment of the detainees in Guantanamo Bay is unethical. Although they might hold key evidence in the "war on terror" they are still human beings regardless of their beliefs, personal opinions or knowledge. I do believe that there is foul play amongst the U.S. soldiers and the conditions in which soldiers live. From what I've read, I think that the detainees are probably being treated wrost than animals in some cases. I also believe that Bush knows exactly whats going on and as far as public knowledge about the situation, he's sticking to the old saying "what they don't know won't hurt them."

Tim Kaine Win !

My opinion on the Tim Kaine win is neutral. Probably because I am not of voting age, so I couldn't voice my views through selecting a candidate. But if I was of voting age, I would have most likely voted for Kaine. I agreed on many of many of his stances about certain issues and I believe he will be a great Governor.

Lewis "Scooter" Libby was indicted by the grand jury on charges of perjury, making false comments, and obstruction of justice on Friday October 28, 2005. Libby soon resigned from his position after the accusal.

I believe that this is something right out of a movie. CIA agents with secret identitites, government coverups and international scandal, all leads one to think that not all government officials are trustworthy.

Harriet Miers: An Intellectual Leader or a Suffering Servant?

The controversal Harriet Miers was nominated for a position in the U.S. Surpreme Court by President Bush. Although she was the first woman to serve as president of the State Bar of Texas and Dallas Bar association, Miers has a lack of experience. Miers has never been a law professor nor a judge but was "surprisingly" choosen as a candidate for this lifetime position. Many conser vatives have mixed emotions about Miers, not wanting to oppose the President's nomination nor wanting another David Souter situation; they are stuck between a rock and a hard place.

Personally I believe Miers may not be the best candidate for the position, but I feel she will still get the position. I think she will be Bush's puppet, cartering to his every demand. She has been his friend for years and probably holds his opinions and ideas as highly as she does her own, which might be a problem.

Kilgore vs. Kaine Debate

While viewing this debate I observed that both candidates were nervous, but prepared. Although Kaine had good responses to questions asked to him, everything he said seemed to be too structured and planned having very little facial expression or a smirk while debating. Kilgore seemed very nervous, stumbling over words and such, but he did have facial expressions, and he didn't seem robotic, like Kaine. Both candidates were very presentable and well groomed.

This story is breath-taking, along with many of the other horror stories that we've all heard. Babies getting raped, gang violence exlpoding and average Americans now homeless and shaken. The U.S. government knew Katrina was going to happen, as well as the local government. Plans should have been made, precautions taken, and back-up plans should have been ready.

Personally I believe that Bush has taken alot of vaction time during his presidency, 339 days of vaction time in five years is astounding. Maureen Dowd is right for her thoughts on Bush, he seems more concerned about peity things, such as mountain biking, than he is concerned about gas prices skyrocketing, the lethalities still rising heavely in Iraq, Hurriane Katrina destroyed New Orleans, and the conflict occuring now with the drafting of the Iraqi constitution. I believe Bush should begin to worry more about domestic and international affairs than about losings a few pounds or vactioning on ranches.

I believe that the signing of this constitution will only add fuel to the fire. The Sunnis are unhappy with the draft and peace will not be maintained or achieved if the situation goes unsolved. A reasonable solution between the Sunnis, the Shiites and the Kurds needs to be acquired before before a fair Constitution can be drafted. But the only problem is how can this be achieved?
